Digital StageThe Classics ReFramed
After a public call out in early 2024, three commissioned artists were selected to create a unique short dance film inspired by the theme The Classics ReFramed. These films take inspiration from a classic piece of work and reimagines it for our time.

Aṁṁonia
Aṁṁonia draws inspiration from Pina Bausch’s work, exploring the hidden power dynamics within society. This dance film is choreographed by Emma Farnell-Watson and Kieran Lai, and directed by Joe Connor.

Mollika
Danced by Mythili Prakash alongside her mother and daughter, Mollika reflects on the transience of time, using the life cycle of the jasmine flower as a metaphor for memory, changing relationships and the aging body.

The Lions are Coming
Set in a decaying nightclub, The Lions are Coming explores survival, destruction, and the resilience of marginalised communities. This film, directed by Folu Odimayo, is inspired by the ideas of rebirth in the classic dance piece The Rite of Spring.
