Name A Seat at Sadler’s Wells East FAQs

How many words can I ask to be on the plaque?

Your plaque can have up to 70 characters (including spaces).

If I don't want to list an individual's name, can I request the plaque is about something else significant – such as a performance, a location or anything else?

Yes, of course. If this fits within the character limit, this is possible. Seat plaques cannot carry any dedication that is political in nature, a form of advertising, or liable to cause offence.

Sadler’s Wells reserves the right to ask for an alternative dedication if it is felt that the requested text is inappropriate.

Do you have a standard format for dates?

Dates can be in the British format – 02/04/1990 (Day/Month/Year)

Or they can be presented over a time period 01/04/2014 – 02/04/2014 (23 characters)

How big will the text be?

The text will be font 26.

The font used will be Aktiv Grotesk.

How will you confirm with me exactly how my text will appear?

Once we receive your dedication, we will then write to you to acknowledge your donation and provide a proof of how your text will appear on your plaque.

We will then ask you to reply confirming you are happy with the dedication and how it appears on the plaque. It will then be engraved and installed in the next installation period.

Will I be able to make changes to my plaque once it has been placed on a seat?

We will make every effort to ensure your plaque inscription is correct before installing it. However, if Sadler’s Wells makes an error, we will cover the cost of correction.

Any other dedication changes can be requested at your own cost. If this is required, please contact Sadler’s Wells Development at saskia.marland@sadlerswells.com and we will let you know if the changes are possible.

How will you decide which seat my plaque will appear on? Can I choose a specific seat?

Yes, you will be able to choose a seat from our seat map in the booking journey. Seats will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Not all seats within the auditorium are for sale.

The seating at Sadler’s Wells East is flexible which means there may be productions where not all seats are present, or they may be in different configurations.

Can a group of people name one seat?

Yes, it is possible for a group of people to name one seat.

This is subject to availability of seats.

How big are the plaques and where will they be located?

The plaque is 10 X 6 cm and will be placed at the base of the seat. It is made of aluminum and has the appearance of a powder coated dark metal.

The font on all plaques is 26 and clearly legible.

Below is a photo of where your plaque will be placed.

How long will the plaque remain on the seat?

Your plaque will remain in place for at least ten years. After that, Sadler’s Wells may remove it. If this happens, we will do our best to contact you about collecting the plaque, extending its life, or preserving it in another format.

What will my donation support?

Your donation will do extraordinary things and support all our work on and off the stage, including:

Artists: Enabling Sadler’s Wells to nurture new talent and support artists in their creative journeys.

New productions: Helping us to programme and produce innovative new work from artists both local and international.

Learning and Engagement: Delivering projects that inspire our local schools and communities, giving everyone the opportunity to explore their creativity through dance.

How can I pay?

You can pay online through the webpage.

It’s just as simple as buying a ticket. You simply select the seat you would like to buy and go to the checkout to pay. If you would like to add an additional donation on top of the £2000 minimum, you will have the option to do so before checkout.

Will my name and my dedication appear anywhere else?

The only form of acknowledgement will be the seat plaque.

Will I always be able to sit in my seat and do I get free entry to all performances?

Sadler’s Wells cannot promise you will be always able to sit in your seat. However, if you book for performances in advance and advise the ticket office of your preferred seat then it may be possible for you to sit in your seat.

The seating is flexible, which means occasionally the seats may be in a different configuration.

Naming a seat does not include complimentary attendance at performances.

Will I get discounts on tickets for future performances as a donor?

Naming a seat does not allow for any future discounts on tickets or events.

However, ticket discounts are available to Members and Patrons of Sadler’s Wells. Find out more about discounts and benefits and how to join here.
