What times can I use the floor?

Check the schedule on the website, on the Sadler’s Wells East Instagram account, or the Front of House screens at the venue for the daily scheduled times for ‘The Floor Is Yours’.

At other times the space may be used for scheduled classes and events, including some closed sessions for specific groups, so please check the schedule before using the floor.

Have a question that isn’t on here, we are still in an experimental phase, so please feedback your thoughts to our Welcome desk.

Can I book to use the floor?

No pre-booking is available, and space is limited, so we recommend arriving early or on time. You’ll be asked to register your details on arrival at the Welcome Desk..

How long can I use it for?

We recommend a 2 hour limit for individuals and groups, to make it fair for other dancers.

If no one else is waiting, you are welcome to stay on it until another group arrives.

Check the schedule for how long the floor is available on the website or at the Welcome Desk.

Will I be sharing the floor with other dancers?

The floor is 8 by 8 metres, with additional hard wood surfaces around the floor.

This is a space to be shared, where everyone is welcome.

If you are a solo dancer, we appreciate a flexible attitude to sharing the space.

If you’re a small group of 2-4 dancers, there is enough room for you to dance alongside another individual or small group

We recommend no more than 8 – 10 people as part of any one group, or using the space at one time.

Can I play music on the floor?

You are welcome to use your headphones, or our Bluetooth system. The Welcome Desk will give you the information you need to use the system

If you are playing music via Bluetooth, please ensure your playlist has no swearing, homophobic, racist and sexually explicit lyrics, as we have a policy in place due to the amount of young people we have in the building.

Please also be mindful of the playlist playing throughout the foyer while setting volume levels.

Am I okay to film myself on The Dance Floor?

You are welcome to film yourself on The Dance Floor. If there are others using the floor please be mindful and make sure they’ve consented to being filmed.

Please note there are other patrons in the foyer too so please be mindful.

Do I have to pay to use The Dance Floor?

No, The Dance Floor is free to use, however we kindly ask you to register your details on arrival at the Welcome Desk.

What should I wear?

The 8 by 8 metre sprung floor is covered in dance floor surface, to reduce the risk of injuries. Please wear comfortable shoes, and no pointed stilettos.

Please do not wear any identifying school branded items.

Do you have lockers?

No, so please keep your valuables with you at all times; Sadler’s Wells East is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

There is a small walkway beside The Dance Floor, please use this areas for bags and personal items to keep walkways clear.

What ages are these times suitable for?

The Dance Floor is for all ages, however no unaccompanied children.

What are the facilities at the venue?

Toilets are available on level 0, including accessible and gender-neutral toilets.

Is there food and drink available at the venue?

There is a water fountain for you to fill up your drink bottle.

Food and drink will be available to purchase from The Well and the Park Kitchen and Bar in the foyer.
