How Can Visual Arts Practices Inform, Shape, and Reinvent Dance?
Join me for a workshop where we’ll explore how to enhance our movement practices by integrating visual and material arts such as collage, drawing, and sculpture. No prior experience in these art forms is necessary—this is a playful space to connect with new or familiar media and discover what they can bring to our movement, dance, and choreography. As we work, I will introduce you to some visual artists that I have found particularly inspiring.
We’ll kick off with a warm-up and physical exploration, focusing on textures and felt sensations. Some materials will be provided, and we’ll use these to articulate concepts or ideas from our own practices, current creative explorations, or something new you discover on the day.
Through discussion and hands-on activities, we’ll investigate various methods for incorporating physical materials into our dance-making process. This workshop is designed to spark creativity and foster collaboration, allowing you to see how visual arts can inform and enhance your movement practice.
By the end of our time together, I aim to share some insights from my multidisciplinary practice and provide you with tools that you can integrate into your creative processes, whether in dancing or choreography.
Anders is leading an online version of this session via Zoom on Wednesday 7 May 2025 from 9:30am – 12:30pm for those that cannot attend in-person or would prefer to join remotely. Please click here for further information and to book.
