This workshop will begin with a 1 hour Gyrokinesis® class to find energy, an internal balance, fluidity and strength as we begin moving together.
The Gyrokinesis® Method is a movement technique that addresses the entire body.
Coordinating movement, breath and mental focus, this practice opens energy pathways, stimulates the nervous system, increases range of motion, and creates functional strength through rhythmic, flowing movement sequences.
Benefits of a regular Gyrokinesis® practice includes a healthier, more supple spine, increased range of motion, greater joint stability, improved agility and athletic performance and a deep internal strength; leaving the practitioner with a feeling of renewed energy and health.
For this particular class, we will work through a seated practice on the floor and standing exercises. There will be plenty of modifications offered to suit the practitioner.
After a short break, we will move through a contemporary technique class.
This class will be mainly released based focused with elements of Cunningham technique as well as taking inspiration taken from the commercial and ballet dance world.
We will move through a variety of technical exercises to address the whole body before ending with a phrase.
Class will be fast paced, feel good fun and most importantly, judgement free.
After class, we will take a short break before heading into a creative and choreographic workshop.
In this creative and choreographic section of the day, I will lead the participants through a series of creative tasks to generate material on a set theme/idea. Combining this, with set choreography, we will piece together all the material generated and see if we can create a short piece to perform, all within the two hour workshop.
This will be a hybrid session, taking place in person and online. If you would prefer to attend this workshop online, please click here for further information and to book.
Part of Sadler’s Wells Artist Development Programme: Artist-Led Sessions. You can find out more about the selection process for this programme online here.
