Dance Consortium Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo Programme A
Play TrailerFor almost 50 years, the all-male comedy ballet company Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo (affectionately known as The Trocks) have been delighting audiences of all ages at sell-out performances featuring their fabulous sense of fun and their flawless dance.
Originally from New York, the Trocks are now loved world-wide for their sassy spoofs and hilarious homages to classical ballet, where 16 dancers each transform into two personas, both male and female.
Every performance frivolously froths with tutus and testosterone, blush-pink ballet pumps, fierce false eyelashes and prima ballerina attitude. However, what makes this company extraordinarily special is their immaculate technique and daring physicality, surpassed only by their impeccable comic timing.
Programme A:
Swan Lake
Nightcrawlers
Dying Swan
Walpurghisnacht
Acclaimed drag ballet legends, the Trocks, take on the greats of classical ballet with their playful parody and unparalleled poise.
Dive into Swan Lake with the company’s signature work Le Lac des Cygnes (Swan Lake Act II). Based on the original choreography by Ivanov, expect a magical realm of swans and birds with a twist. This is then followed by a surprise work, chosen on the night for your enjoyment.
Nightcrawlers, set to Chopin nocturnes, is a parody and homage to Jerome Robbins’ In The Night, a duet in which a couple are about to break up. Finally, the lovely ladies of the Trocks join the Bolshoi Ballet in Valpurgeyeva Noch, a specimen of high Soviet balletic camp.
Whether you love ballet or love a laugh, the brilliant craft of the Trocks is sure to keep you entertained.
