Dance Consortium Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo Programme B
Play TrailerFor almost 50 years, the all-male comedy ballet company Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo (affectionately known as The Trocks) have been delighting audiences of all ages at sell-out performances featuring their fabulous sense of fun and their flawless dance.
Originally from New York, the Trocks are now loved world-wide for their sassy spoofs and hilarious homages to classical ballet, where 16 dancers each transform into two personas, both male and female.
Every performance frivolously froths with tutus and testosterone, blush-pink ballet pumps, fierce false eyelashes and prima ballerina attitude. However, what makes this company extraordinarily special is their immaculate technique and daring physicality, surpassed only by their impeccable comic timing.
Programme B:
Les Sylphides
Vivaldi Suite
Dying Swan
Majisiamas
Explore the modern and the theatrical side of ballet with legends of balletic campness, the Trocks.
Les Sylphides is as mesmerising as it is melodramatic as our leading ladies take on the roles of air spirits, rooted in the atmosphere of Giselle or La Sylphide. This is then followed by a surprise work, chosen on the night for your enjoyment.
The Trocks then take on the fiendishly difficult Vivaldi Suite, a parody of the work of George Balanchine which joined the traditions of American folk dance with classical ballet. Finally, escape to the continent with Majisimas, a seductive, exotic and hilarious ode to Spain.
Whether you love ballet or love a laugh, the brilliant craft of the Trocks is sure to keep you entertained.
