An intimate and eerie duet between a living and a lifeless body.
Self/Unnamed is a duet for two bodies: Georges Labbat and his translucent, rigid and plastic alter-ego, fashioned in resin. These two bodies, each a vessel for a single voice, engage in a lonely waltz, exploring and understanding the complexities of their relationship. They embody multiple individuals, shifting roles, negotiating power dynamics, and ultimately blurring the line between themselves.
Dancer and choreographer Labbat has appeared in works by visionary artists such as Anne Imhof and Gisèle Vienne. He previously danced in Crowd by Gisèle Vienne at the 2022 Dance Reflections Festival at Sadler’s Wells. Now he presents his first solo work in the Lilian Baylis Studio.

Header image description: Against a black background are two opposing faces in profile. One face – Georges Labbat – looks to the right. He has short, clipped hair and a light from above casts shadow down him. The other face is that of a life-sized resin model of Georges. It is facing the left and tilted down slightly. It is bright white, eerie and translucent – like a ghost of Georges.
